Nigeria Health Ministry confirms 5 New cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria

Nigeria’s Health Minister, Dr Osagie Ehanire, on March 18, 2020 announced 5 new cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria bringing the total number confirmed cases in Nigeria to 8.

According to the Minister, all 5 cases had a travel history to the UK/USA.

Breaking down the number, Ehanire revealed that 4 of them are Nigerians (one a 6-week old baby – youngest victim so far), while the fifth one a foreign national who came in through the land border — the first case of infection via land border in Nigeria.

The Nigerian government on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 suspended its visa on arrival policy for 13 countries over fears of further spread of coronavirus

The 13 countries are: China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, United States of America, Norway, United Kingdom, Netherlands & Switzerland.

This was made known in a tweet by the Presidential Taskforce on #COVID19 led by the Office of the Secretary General of the Federation.

#COVID-19 Cases in Africa as at March 18, 2020

The World Health Organisation African Region has released an updated list of #COVID-19 cases in Africa. According to a tweet by WHOAFRO, there are now 477 cases in Africa.
